Spring Break Camp Fundraiser

Join us at Happy Hooves Sanctuary for spring break miniature horse camp! Kids will learn how to safely care for, lead, ride, and drive our wonderful herd of rescued miniature horses and lesson horses. Camp culminates with a pony parade and pizza party for campers and their families.

All profits from tuition go to supporting sanctuary expenses year-round.

  • Spring Break Camp is one week only from Monday, April 3 through Friday, April 7, and space is limited.
  • This event is open to children aged 4-10 years old. Registration is required.
  • Operating hours is from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, childcare services for extended hours are available for an additional cost.

Event Description

Riding Lessons: The camp will include private and semi-private lessons on our lesson horses for first time riders to advanced beginner riders only. Students will do fun activities to become confident on horseback, improve balance, and learn body control to create an independent seat and quiet hands. Campers will learn how to effectively communicate with the horse using the riding aids and positive reinforcement. We will break horseback riding down into achievable parts to meet the learner at their ability level.
Pony Rides: Camp participants 7 years old and under will ride with an assistant leading the pony and will learn leadline equitation. 

Carriage DrivingMiniature horse driving basics: how to safely get in and out of the cart, how to harness the horse, how to use driving aids to effectively communicate with the horse. Driving will be done in small groups, two campers per horse.

Horsemanship: The camp provides a safe environment to learn horse handling skills through grooming techniques and stable keeping.

Other Activities: Art and crafts, learning equine anatomy and games.

Pricing

  • $650 per camper for a week with a $350 deposit to hold your spot 
  • Before/after hours childcare $25/hr

What to Bring/Wear

Sack lunch, sunscreen, sun hat, long pants, boots with firm toe (paddock boots preferred, rain boots and hiking shoes acceptable), well-fitting horseback riding helmet (if you don't have one we have loaners).


We still have a few spots available for the spring break miniature horse camp. Please note these spots are available on a first come, first serve basis, are limited and tend to fill up quickly.
